Creating a PEM for the Balancer

A .pem file is required to do SSL termination in the Snapt Load Balancer. This is a plain text file and very simple to create.

You must have a private key (.key) file without password protection, then the .crt you received from your Certificate Authority and then any intermediate certificates they require by simply adding it in afterward.

Below is a full example of what one would look like:

-----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----

(REQUIRED: Your Private Key: website.key)

-----END RSA PRIVATE KEY-----

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----

(REQUIRED: Your Primary SSL certificate: website.crt)

-----END CERTIFICATE-----

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----

(OPTIONALLY: Your Intermediate certificate: NetworkSolutions_CA.crt)

-----END CERTIFICATE-----

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----

(OPTIONALLY: Your Root certificate: TrustedRoot.crt)

-----END CERTIFICATE-----

You can test your SSL install with our free tool.
